【摘要】:Measurementsmadebythistestmethodarerelatedtovisualobservationsofretroreflectivesheetingasseenbythehumaneyewhenilluminatedbytungsten-filamentlightsourcessuchasamotorvehicleheadlamp.Thevaluesdeterminedrelatetothevisualeffectsforagivengeometricconfigurationasspecifiedbytheuserofthetestmethod.Thistestmethodhasbeenfoundusefulfortestsatobservationanglesbetween0.1and2.0x00B0;(observationanglesbetween0.1x00B0;and0.2x00B0;maybeachievedbycarefuldesignofsourceandreceiverapertureconfiguration),andatentranceanglesupto60x00B0;.Ithasbeenusedtodeterminecoefficientofretroreflectionvaluesaslowas0.1cdx00B7;lxx2212;1x00B7;mx2212;2,butforvalueslessthan1cdx00B7;lxx2212;1x00B7;mx2212;2specialattentionmustbegiventotheresponsivityofthereceiverandtotheeliminationofverysmallamountsofstraylight.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesaninstrumentmeasurementoftheretroreflectiveperformanceofretroreflectivesheeting.1.2Theuserofthistestmethodmustspecifytheentranceandobservationanglestobeused,andmayspecifytherotationangles.1.3Thistestmethodisintendedasalaboratorytestandrequiresafacilitythatcanbedarkenedsufficientlysothatstraylightdoesnotaffectthetestresults.Thetestingapparatusmustbeabletoachievethecoplanargeometry.1.4PortableandbenchretroreflectionmeasuringequipmentmaybeusedtodetermineRAvaluesprovidedthegeometryandappropriatesubstitutionstandardreferencepanels,measuredinaccordancewiththistestmethod,areutilized.InthiscasethemethodsofProcedureBinPracticeE809apply.AdditionalinformationontheuseofportableretroreflectometersmaybefoundinTestMethodE1709.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
