【摘要】:Theinstrumenttobeusedtoobtainthelineardimensionofanobjectwilldependonitscontourand/orlocationandthedegreeofaccuracydesired.Rules,scales,tapes,calipers,depthgages,etc,areusedforsuchmeasurements.Someofthemaredirectmeasuringinstrumentsandothersarecomparisoninstrumentswhichmustbereferredtoappropriatestandardsordirectmeasuringinstruments.Thelineardimensionsofpracticallyanyobjectaresubjecttovariationdependingonthetemperatureoftheobject.Allstandardsoflengtharecalibratedat68F(20C)andallmeasuringinstrumentsareintendedtobecorrectwithinmanufacturinglimitsatthattemperature.Atanyothertemperaturetheyarenecessarilysomeothersize,butifthemeasuringinstrumentandobjecttobemeasuredareofthesamematerialtheywillchangeequalamountsattemperaturesotherthan68Fandnoerrorwillbeintroduced.Fordissimilarmaterialsonlythedifferenceinexpansionorcontractionbetweenthemeasuringinstrumentandthemeasuredobjectneedbetakenintoaccount.
